AC4400CW

NB - if you have banking units in your consist (locomotives not physically connected to your loco), the first thing to do is turn banking radio on in your locomotive. The banking locos will now mimic your locomotive reverser and power level settings.

R = required, O = optional

  1. R Sit in the driver seat For AI trains, simplified physics and driving is used. By sitting in the driver seat you tell the game engine you want to drive this train. In timetable mode this is the normal way to proceed, but you also can take control in the yards.
  2. R Check engine run is On - rear panel (This is the case at Sandpatch, but not at the SJF Route)
  3. R Check Control & Fuel Pump is On - left lower panel next to left leg (This is the case at Sandpatch, but not at the SJF Route)
  4. R Set Generator Field On - left lower panel nex to left leg ( This is a new step for TSW2)
  5. R Set the Cut-Off valve to Cut In - using the Brake menu on the multifunction device (see below)
  6. R Set the MU Valve to Lead - using the Brake menu on the multifunction device (see below)
  7. R Insert the Reverser handle
  8. R Set the independent brake to full application (This prevents the train from rolling when you release the train brakes)
  9. O Set the reverser to idle
  10. R Release the automatic brakes This may take some time, 5 minutes is realistic! Observe the Brake pressure to rise till 89
  11. O Turn on the head lights
  12. O Turn on the ditch lights
  13. O Turn on the instrument lights
  14. O Check the handbrake is released You normally do not need to do this, but the handbrake wheel is on the long hood on non-driver's side
  15. O Sound the horn twice
  16. R Apply some power, notch 2 or 3 should do
  17. R When you see the ammeter rises, gradually release the independent brake. It may take some time before the train starts moving. This depends on train weight. Be patient!
  18. O Apply sand when needed If you start on a grade you may need to apply

Trailing Unit

  1. Brakes set to trail
  2. Brakes set to cut out.
  3. Auto-brake handle set to handle off
  4. Dynamic and independent brake fully released.

Multifunction Display

  2. Press F3 to cut in brakes
  3. Press F4 to select lead
  4. Press F6 to save changes

Cold Start

  1. Check run isolation switch is off/start (rear wall)
  2. Sit in seat. Make sure engine run, gen field and fuel pump are off.
  3. Press engine start button (rear wall).
  4. Set isolation switch to run.
  5. Sit in seat and turn engine run, gen field and fuel pump on.
  6. Cut in brakes set to lead.
  7. Check hand brake is off - long hood on non-driver's side

Slow Speed Setting

  1. In cab view, press left arrow key to focus on multifunction display
  2. Click with right mouse button to get focus on the control
  3. Use the F or numeral buttons corresponding to the display soft buttons using the speed control menu

*NB* if you have pusher locomotives, they may push you too fast to load your train. To fix this:

  1. Turn off banking and/or disable control stand and set to lead or dead.
