DB BR612 Diesel Hydraulic

Use combined brake throttle to hold speeds down gradients or to reduce a couple of km/h. Otherwise, used normal brake after setting throttle brake handle to 0.

The train has a simplified EBULA that indicates the current speed and the next speed. The red GNT light will come on indicating a reduced speed coming up. Brake level 2 will be required to slow down in time - usually the speed post for normal trains. The higher speeds only apply while the GNT system is receiving data which is indicated by the blue Ü light. If this light is out, normal speeds apply.

You do not have to acknowledge speed warning signs, but you do have to acknowledge signal reductions and obey signal speeds.

If you travel more than 3 km/h above the speed limit, a warning will sound. If you travel 6km/h above speed limit, brakes will apply. 10km/h will result in emergency brakes. All brakes applied will release once the train has reduced to the speed limit.

Missed SIFA will result in a hard brake application, but it can be cancelled by pressing the SIFA button and re-applying power.

There is an intermittent bug when releasing brakes after a stop, sometimes you can't get more than 1% power. Reduce power to zero, apply train brake and release, and take power again.

The electric brake is only good for holding speeds on grades, but it is good at that. Aim for about 40 km/h into platform, then between brake at 1B and 2 to stop.

Recover from Emergency Brake

  1. Come to a stop
  2. Move train brake to "running" (release)
  3. Wait for brake release
  4. Continue your journey
