• Turn on gen field switch - left console switch
• Insert reverser
• Set reverser to forward
• Turn on headlights - rotary switch below brake handles
• Apply independent brake - no need to cut in brakes on this loco
• Fully release automatic brake
• Apply a small amount of throttle
• Release independent brake
